An Introduction to Southbank
Southbank is a commercial and entertainment area in central London, situated on the eponymous south bank of The River Thames. The Southbank area is not formally defined, but it is generally understood to be bounded by Westminster Bridge and Blackfriars Bridge. The area has an extremely long list of attractions such as the County Hall, the Sea Life Aquarium, the London Dungeons and the London Eye.
Travel Links in Southbank
Part of the success of the area is attributed to the high number of public transport options available. Several major railway terminals are within walking distance of the South Bank, on both sides of the river. These terminals include Waterloo, Charing Cross and Blackfriars, which offer both local and national connections. The South Bank is also within easy walking access of Covent Garden, Westminster Abbey, and Hyde Park.
